Deep sea and overland heavy lift and container transport

Within a couple of months, the Takoradi Thermal Power Plant in Aboadze Takoradi, Ghana will be maintained and extended. Portside Group will transport the equipment, such as drilling equipment, heavy lift crawler cranes, excavators and containers. The equipment will be shipped from Romania, Belgium and Greece to Ghana. Portside and its subsidiary Ports Marine will transport all the equipment to the Power Plant, both overseas and overland.

The equipment the subcontractor Octagon needs for maintaining and expanding the power plant, consists of heavy lift crawler cranes of 60 tonnes each, excavators and drilling equipment. The cargo will be shipped on liner RoRo and container vessels from Antwerp, Bucharest and Piraeus to Tema. With the arrival of the ships in the port of Tema in week 4, Ports Marine located at Tema, Ghana, handles and custom cleared the cargo for overland transportation and delivery. Due to the weight and dims of the heavy lift crawler cranes and the excavators, a special oversized transport is needed to transport the heavy weights to the Takoradi Thermal Power Plant.
